David Thomas Jones

December 30, 1945 — February 29, 2012

Davy Jones, age 66, died February 29, 2012 in Martin County. Born December 30, 1945 in Manchester, England he moved to the United States in the 1960’s.

His passion included theatre, music and a love of horses. Following a recurring role on the British soap opera “Coronation Street,” Davy studied to be a jockey. It was during his jockey apprenticeship he was cast in Oliver! at the West End of London. His theatrical talent brought him to the United States where he was cast shortly thereafter in the hit 60’s television show and band “The Monkees”. Jones made his American television debut on The Ed Sullivan Show, appearing just prior to the Beatles television debut. The Monkees chart-topping songs include, Daydream Believer, I’m a Believer and Last Train to Clarksville. Jones is remembered for his appearance on the Brady Bunch and the single “Girl”.

Davy is survived by his wife Jessica Pacheco-Jones, daughters; Talia Jones, Sarah McFadden, Jessica Cramer, and Annabel Jones, sisters; Hazel, Beryl, and Lynda, and grandchildren; Harrison, Lauren, and Phoenix.

Davy will always be remembered as one of the original teen boy band heart throbs, but also for his philanthropic spirit of working with children, assisting with fundraising efforts for education and promotion of the theatre through his restoration project in Beavertown, Pennsylvania.

The family is asking that contributions be sent to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, 2701 Maitland Center Parkway, Suite 100, Maitland, FL 32751 or the local chapter in honor of Jones' niece, Deborah Jane Wilkinson, who died from the illness in 1995.

Services: Private family services will be conducted with public memorials to be announced at a later date.
