Dean Edward Rodgers, at 53 years of age, passed away on May 24, 2018 in Jupiter, Florida.
Dean was born in Topeka, Kansas to Charles Duane and Donna Lee Rodgers, second youngest in the five brother crew. The family moved to Park Forest, Illinois, where he had his primary education and graduated from Rich South High School. He attended several semesters at Eastern Illinois University before joining the Army National Guard in 1983. He then
relocated to South Florida and worked a couple of jobs before being employed as a truck driver at Walmart for 16 years.
His world was rocked when he met the love of his life, Susan Kane, through his good friend, Bill. Their relationship blossomed and they eventually married in 2014. Susan fostered Dean’s passion for horses and shared his interest in traveling and watching NASCAR races. He was also involved with Horse Rescue and the Cancer Walk Foundation.
Dean was an avid sports fan, who enjoyed scuba diving, playing golf and sharing quality time with those he cared about. Dean’s contagious smile sometimes faded in contemplation of the next meal, but was usually beaming as he cracked jokes and lifted spirits. He will be forever loved and missed by those who knew him.
He is survived by his wife of four years, Susan Kane of Port St. Lucie, Fl.; son of Charles Duane Rodgers and Donna Rodgers (deceased) of Summerfield, Fl.; brothers and family to David Rodgers (along with wife, Laura, as well as Stephanie and David Andrew) of Plantation, Fl.; Robert Rodgers of Leesburg, Fl.; Daniel Rodgers of Summerfield, Fl.; & Jeffery Rodgers (and wife, Beth) of Mokena, Il.
He was loved by many, and will be missed by all. Rest in peace Dean.
