Dewayne “Boobie” McOsker, 80, passed away Tuesday, March 1, 2016 in Fort Pierce, Florida.
Dewayne retired to Port Saint Lucie, Florida in 1996 coming from Manhasset, New York, his home since 1959 and the birthplace of his children.
He spent 25 years as a fireman, working with “The Minute Men” Manhasset Lakeville Fire District, Company #2. Boobie ended his career with the Fire District as a chaplain. He enjoyed swimming and was passionate for poker. He became a Catholic at the age of 75 and was a daily communicant.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mary McOsker of Port Saint Lucie, Florida; daughter, Denise McOsker of Port Saint Lucie, Florida; son, Dewayne (Vanessa) McOsker, Jr. of Fredericksburg, Virginia; 4 grandchildren, Sean, Alexandra, Ryan and Patrick and sister, Joyce Doig of The Villages. Dewayne was predeceased by his parents, Lester and Lorine McOsker; and Shirley McOsker.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Boobie’s name to the Manhasset Lakeville Fire Department Company #2 Firehouse 2 Community Drive East Manhasset, NY 11030.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at 10:30 AM. An inurnment will take place at a later date in Manhasset, New York. Arrangements are under the direction of Haisley Funeral and Cremation Services.
