Dewey Wayne Hudman, of Port St Lucie, Florida passed away peacefully on November 6, 2023, surrounded by his family and friends.

Dewey was born on May 12, 1948, to Daniel and Inez Hudman in Chilton County, Alabama. Dewey has one brother Herman Hudman who is married to Deb Hudman. After high school, Dewey went on to study Electrical Engineering and graduated from the University of Auburn. After graduating, he was hired by FPL and relocated to Florida. Dewey met his wife, Lillian Hudman and her two sons Gary Faircloth and David Faircloth. Dewey and Lillian had one son, Denny Hudman.

Dewey is survived by his wife of 47 years, Lillian Hudman, their son Denny Hudman, and his wife Tammy Hudman. Their five children Dylan, Kaylee, Brandon, Blake, and Brianna. Son, Gary Faircloth and his wife Tamara and children, Erin, Taylor, Raegan, and Maximus. Son, David Faircloth and his life partner Sharon Taylor and son, Cody. Dewey has 10 grandkids (Dylan, Kaylee, Brandon, Brianna, Blake, Erin, Taylor, Raegan, Maximus, and Cody) and 5 great grand kids (Camdon, Lera, Amelia, Hudson, Josie, and Matti)

Dewey was a kind and gentle soul who was devoted to youth sports of Port St. Lucie up until his passing. He was involved in Little Leage District 17 for five decades. Of those five decades, the last three decades he was the district administrator of LLD 17 of Florida.

Dewey was also part of the PSLAA for 40 years and one of the founding members for the PSLAA Sportsman’s Park West.

Great leaders don’t set out to be a leader, the set out to make a difference. It is never about the role, always about the goal. Dewey knew the kids were our worlds future and we believe this was his goal. He kept that goal for over 50 years.

Dewey touched the lives of almost everyone he encountered and will be missed by many.

The Celebration of Life will be held at Sportsman’s Park on November 18, 2023, at 12:00pm. Donations can be made in lieu of flowers to Little League District 17.
