Diane Susie Ramsey Gates, a faithful follower of Jesus Christ, passed away on Sunday, December 1st, 2024 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on January 10th, 1947 in Lafayette, IN. She was 77 years old.
Diane was a devoted Christian whose faith was the foundation of her life. Her favorite saying was, “I love Jesus!” She found strength and comfort in her relationship with God, and her unwavering belief in his love was evident in everything she did. She was actively involved in starting a bus ministry, teaching Sunday school, and serving on international mission trips. She was a member of Westside Church in Ft. Pierce, FL.
Her passion for serving others was evident in all she did. Diane always found ways to bring others to Christ. She had an exceptional gift of speaking to people’s hearts and sharing the gospel, never missing an opportunity to plant seeds of faith in the lives around her. Even while Diane was in the hospital, she took time to talk to others about God’s love, sharing words of encouragement and faith with anyone she encountered. Her unwavering desire to bring others to Christ never faltered, even in the most challenging circumstances. Diane’s impact on the church community and beyond will never be forgotten.
Mrs. Gates was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Wyman Gates, her father, Wilbur Ramsey, her mother, Lavada Ramsey, brothers Gene, Russell, and David Ramsey, and sister, June Henry.
Mrs. Gates is survived by her loving children: Tina Orwall, Donna (Jeff) Owens, Larry (Julie) Gates Jr., and Charlie (Kristin) Gates, grandchildren: Jenna (Jeff) Pinkstaff, Alec Shamseldin, Michael (Shelby) Owens, Evan (Jordan) Owens, J.D. (Kaity) Owens, Lindsay Gates, Kayley (Mitchell) Wokomaty, Cassie (Carson) Jones, Ansley Gates, Kenneth Gates, Charlie Nichole Gates, and five great grandchildren.
There are many other extended family members and friends who loved and will remember her forever as Aunt Diane.
A dedicated English teacher, Diane impacted countless lives through her years of service in the classroom. She was passionate about shaping the young minds of her students. Diane believed that teaching was not only about imparting knowledge but also about inspiring character, integrity, and faith. Her students will always remember her kindness, patience, and lessons she taught them that went far beyond the classroom. She then went on to publish her book, In the Night, Reflections. This achievement reflected her deep love for learning and her desire to share her wisdom of the Gospel with the world.
A celebration of life will be held Sunday, December 8 at Westside Church at 1pm in Fort Pierce. A graveside service will follow the celebration of life at White City Cemetery.
Though we grieve her loss, we find comfort in knowing she is reunited with her husband, and is now in the arms of our Savior, rejoicing in His presence. Her legacy of faith, teaching, and love will forever remain in our hearts.
