Donald I. Locke, 84, died peacefully on April 8, 2015, following a brief illness.
Don, a veteran of the U.S. Navy (Construction Seabees), had a long and successful career as owner of a residential and commercial construction company. He also made custom furniture and, later in life, continued his passion for artistic woodworking, selling at crafts shows and giving as gifts his nature and nautical-themed intarsia creations.
Don was the beloved father to his daughter, Leeanne, of Methuen, Mass., and son, Gregg, of Tewksbury, Mass., and grandfather to Gregg’s children, Emily Jean and Brendan Donald, also of Tewksbury. Don was a past president of the Lions’ Club District 33-N, was also a mentor in the construction trades, home builder most of his life and a friend to countless people in Massachusetts, where he resided until 1988 then moved to Fort Pierce, Fla., to enjoy his retirement years. Don was predeceased in 2004 by his wife of 50 years, Joan Hurlburt Locke.
Don was a member of First Congregational Church UCC of Ft. Pierce and Member of the Ft. Pierce Lions Club.
Arrangements have not yet been announced, but a private memorial service in Fort Pierce is anticipated for later in the spring.
