Doris Laverne Bell Wilmot, 83, of Port Saint Lucie, Florida passed away on March 4, 2018 in Fort Pierce, Florida.
Doris was born in Coffeyville, Kansas on May 6, 1934 to Mr. and Mrs. Elijah Taylor; she was the eldest of 6 children.
She married an Air Force Serviceman in Wichita, Kansas which opened up the opportunity to see the world. She lived abroad in Spain and in various states until her husband’s early passing; after which she settled in Springfield Massachusetts. She married a Jamaican entrepreneur and enjoyed learning about and experiencing the Jamaican culture.
She held many occupations from office worker to hospital ward clerk to business owner.
Doris and her husband retired and settled in Port St. Lucie, Florida in 2002 coming from Springfield, Massachusetts.
Doris was known for her great sense of humor and had a contagious laugh. She was loved by many.
She was very hospitable and always opened her house to friends and relatives.
In Massachusetts she became a devout Jehovah’s Witness and served Jehovah joyfully and faithfully until her death.
She loved traveling, dancing, concerts and serving Jehovah.
Survivors include daughters, Karen Starks of Springfield, MA, Linda Thompson of Fuquay-Varina, NC, Marva Bell of Fuquay-Varina, NC and Renee Bell of Manassas, VA; grandchildren, Chuck Starks of Springfield, MA, Terrence (Keysha) Starks of East Hartford, CT, Stephone Jeffery of Virginia Beach, VA, Shannon (Freddy) Parker of Greensboro, NC and Isaiah Thompson of Virginia Beach, VA; great-grandchildren, Lexi Starks, Jalen Starks, both of Pittsfield, MA, Donnique Starks of East Hartford, CT, Shayla Parker of Greensboro, NC, Torrien Starks of East Hartford, CT, Serenity Parker of Greensboro, NC; sister, Delois Patterson of Wichita, KS; brothers, Dennis Taylor of Seattle, WA and Don Taylor of Wichita, KS; son-in-law, Mark Thompson of Springfield, MA; and many loving spiritual brothers and sisters, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded by parents, Elijah and Helen Taylor; husbands, Leonard Bell and Elsworth Wilmot; brother, Frank and sister, Ann.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 10, 2018 from 12PM to 2PM at the Haisley Tribute Center, 2041 SW Bayshore Blvd Port Saint Lucie, Florida. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at 3PM at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 103 NW Marion Avenue Port Saint Lucie, Florida 34983.
