Doris B. Rebert, 103, died on Tuesday, January 7, 2025 at the home of her daughter in Port St. Lucie, FL, where she had been residing for the last five years. She was a long-time resident of rural Westminster MD, where she was born on April 23, 1921. She was the daughter of the late J. Elwood Brehm and Evelyn Menchey Brehm. She was predeceased by her husband, J. Owings Rebert in 2005. They had been married 62 years. She was also predeceased by sister and brother-in-law Nancy and Harry Jones.

She was a graduate of Westminster High School, the Class of 1937. She worked outside the home in several different capacities and retired from Carroll County General Hospital where she had been the supervisor of communications for more than 20 years, beginning soon after the hospital opened. Her greatest joy was caring for her family. Whether she worked alongside her husband maintaining the iris flower gardens for which they were well known, or kept a vegetable garden, or prepared a delicious meal, she continually shared her love and caring.

She was a life-long member of St. John’s (Leisters) Lutheran Church, where she participated in many groups, committees, and events, including the Church Council. She was a life member of the American Iris Society (AIS), the local AIS Chapter - Francis Scott Key Iris Society, and the Historical Iris Preservation Society.

Surviving her are a daughter and son-in-law, Deanna R. and Frederick Stevens of Port St. Lucie, FL and son and daughter-in-law, Carl J. Rebert and Tracey Sanford of Finksburg, MD; grandchildren Michael Stevens (Lynn) of Statham, GA, Michelle Hart (Patrick) of Plantation, FL, Jessica Shabel of Taylors, SC, Amy Chacon (Santana) of Loomis, CA, Emily Hungate (Douglas) of Blacksburg, VA; great-grandchildren Spencer, Avery and Cadence Stevens, Noah, Ryan and Ethan Hart, Delaney and Logan Shabel, Caroline, Katie and Matthew Gordon, and Emma and Sophie Hungate and step-great-grandchildren Aryanna, Carlo, Julian, Dakota, and Gianna Chacon and several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Friday, January 17 from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis Street, Westminster MD. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, January 18 at 2 pm at the funeral home with Pastors Chris Litton and Kristin Hoyer officiating. Burial will be in St. John’s (Leisters) Lutheran Church Cemetery immediately following` the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to St. John’s (Leisters) Lutheran Church, 827 Leisters Church Road, Westminster, MD 21157.
