Dorothey Ann "Dottie" Gilliland

Dorothey “Dottie” Ann Gilliland, a strong-willed and feisty individual, passed away on August 21, 2023, at the age of 78. Her vibrant spirit and unwavering determination will forever be remembered by those who had the privilege of knowing her. Born in Spartanburg, South Carolina, on July 18, 1945, Dottie lived a life filled with love for her family.

Dottie possessed a fiery personality. She was always ready to lend a helping hand or offer words of comfort. Dottie's adoration extended beyond her immediate family. She held a deep appreciation for the simple pleasures in life; nothing brought her greater joy than enjoying a strong cup of coffee while engaging in conversations with cherished neighbors. Dottie was known for rearranging furniture and keeping a meticulously clean home. She also loved being outdoors; from walking her beloved dog, Obie or doing yard work.


Survived by her daughter, Brandi Kohler of Port St. Lucie, FL, and her sons Randell (Dona) Netherton of Milton, FL, and Kristopher Netherton of Winter Garden, FL; brothers Don (Sharon) Gilliland of Wisconsin and Michael (Kay) Gilliland of South Carolina. Five cherished grandchildren - James, Austin, Jacob, Anakin, and Ali Netherton and her faithful dog Obie.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Barbara Ann Bauman; her brother, James Gilliland, and her beloved granddaughter, Kaitlyn Kohler
