Dorothy “Dottie” Ruth deAquinos

July 24, 1938 — October 8, 2023

Dorothy Ruth deAquinos “Dottie” passed away peacefully at home in Davie, Florida, surrounded by family.

She was born the youngest of three children to Dorothy and Bryant (Bob) Martin in Miami, Florida. Dottie was a graduate of Miami Edison High School where she was a majorette for the Red Raiders. She worked for Commercial Bank of Miami where she met Bob, her loving husband of 48 years.

Dottie and Bob raised their blended family in Miami. Together they raised her daughter, Shari, and Bob’s children, Robbin, Bobby Jr., and Bill. She worked for Eastern Airlines which afforded them lots of travel fun with friends and family. After retirement they relocated to Ft. Pierce where they were involved in Westside Baptist Church. Together they enjoyed serving their church community and friends with handy-man projects, crafting, and delivering meals. Dottie was a seamstress and a wonderful cook who used her talents to bless others. They thoroughly enjoyed their grandchildren on summer visits, camping trips, and theme parks.

In later years when Bob’s health began to decline, Dottie’s love and commitment to her husband were evident to all with her daily trips to care for him. After Bob’s passing, Dottie moved to Davie to be closer to Shari and her family. Dottie’s declining health and increasing dementia made it difficult to communicate with life-long friends in recent months, yet she always appreciated a fun visit, sweet card, or familiar voice on the phone. Her family is grateful for all who kept up with her over the years. She loved well and was in turn loved by many. In recent weeks she expressed her desire to depart for Heaven into the loving arms of Jesus, the One in whom she had put her eternal trust.

She is survived by her daughter Shari (Ed) of Davie, Florida, and grandchildren Joey, Ashley, Patti, and Amy.

A celebration of Dottie’s life will be held on Sunday, October 22, 2023 from 2:00 – 4:00pm at Haisley Funeral Home Reception Center 3015 Okeechobee Road, Fort Pierce, FL 34947. Friends and family are encouraged to remember her with wonderful memories, fun stories, and lots of laughter for the love and joy she brought to so many.

A private graveside service will be held at the South Florida National Cemetery in Lake Worth, Florida, where she will be laid to rest beside her late husband.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to Perspective Ministries, P.O. Box 286, Woodstock, GA 30188 (https://perspectiveministries.kindful.com), to assist them in caring for widows and the fatherless.
