DOROTHY E. SCHAEFFER
Dorothy E. Schaeffer, 92, died Wednesday, August 3, 2011 in her home in Fort Pierce, Florida.
She was born in New Eagle, Pennsylvania and was a resident of Fort Pierce, FL, coming from Monongahela and New Eagle, PA.
Dorothy was one of fourteen children raised on Point Bealea Farm on Keenan Hill in New Eagle. She had a dedication to helping seniors long before she became a senior herself. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ in Monongahela, enjoyed quilting and was an exceptional seamstress.
Survivors include her daughter, Donna G. (Bernard) Bires of Fort Pierce, FL; sons, R. Patrick (Kay) Gandley of New Hope, PA and Michael (Kathy) Gandley of Ypsilanti, MI; daughter-in-law, Eunice Gandley of Montgomeryville, PA; and, seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her first husband, John Robert Gandley and her second husband, John Schaeffer.
Memorial contributions may be made in Dorothy’s memory to Treasure Coast Hospice, 5000 Dunn Road, Fort Pierce, Florida 34981.
Visitation will be held Sunday, August 14th from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9:00 PM in the Frye Funeral Home in Monongahela, PA with a Service on Monday at 11:00 AM in Pennsylvania. Local arrangements are under the direction of Haisley Funeral & Cremation Service.
