Dorothy L. Wilson

January 5, 1923 — May 14, 2010

Dorothy L. Wilson was born in Detroit, Michigan in 1923. At the age of 23 she married Lewis E. Wilson; three years later their daughter Louise was born.

The family lived in several different cities throughout the Northeast – Pittsburgh, PA; Utica, NY; Kenton, OH; Columbus, OH; Grand Blanc, MI; and finally on the shores of Lake Fenton, MI. Dorothy found it easy to make new friends each time.

In 1968, Dorothy started working at General Motors as a secretary but it was not many years before she became a Buyer for the Buick Division.

After retiring, she and Lew started spending winters in Fort Pierce, moving here full time in 2004, right before the hurricanes.

Dorothy attended Indian River Presbyterian Church and has been a member of PEO for over 40 years. Starting before she actually lived here full-time, Dorothy was a faithful Pink Lady at Lawnwood Memorial Hospital. At the Colonnades, where she lived, she was an active member of the Care Group. An avid bridge player, Dorothy played at every opportunity.

The arts were always an important part of Dorothy’s life. In recent years she attended most of the plays and concerts presented through Indian River Community College and many openings at the Bacchus Gallery.

Always the first to offer compassion to someone else, it has been said that “nobody had more friends than Dorothy”.

Daughter Louise Wilson Noyes of Hailey, ID, son-in-law Jay Noyes and brother Gordon Giddy of Grand Rapids, MI survive her.
