Earnest R. Dunn, 83, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2017. Earnest was a lifelong citrus grower and cattle rancher. He joined the United States Army at the age of 18 and served in the
Korean War. He also held a private pilot’s license.
Earnest was born in St. Lucie Village on July 16, 1933. He married the love of his life, Pat, on March 2, 1957. He was a Past President and member of the Board of Directors of the St. Lucie County Farm Bureau and a member of the St. Lucie County and Florida Cattleman’s Association. He was also a member of the St. Lucie Fair Association and was a Life Member of the Board of Directors, past president and Fair Manager. He volunteered with WPSL Christmas Kids and was a member of the Board of Directors. He was also a member of the Lawnwood Regional Medical Center Auxiliary and past chairman of the tram committee.
Earnest is survived by his wife, Cleopatra (Pat) Dunn, daughter Laura Kramer (Brian), son Michael Dunn (Cindy), five grandchildren (Kaitlyne, Jason, Kristyn, Alexis and Christina) and four great-grandchildren (Mason, Trenton, Rylan, and Emily). He was predeceased by his parents Herschel Lee and Lunnie Mae and his brothers Howard and Alkus Lee.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Lawnwood Regional Medical Center Auxiliary Scholarship Fund or Treasure Coast Hospice.
Visitation will be held Saturday, June 24th at 10AM at Haisley Funeral Home in Fort Pierce, followed by a celebration of life at 11AM. There will be a private graveside service followed by a reception at Haisley Funeral Home. The family requests attendees wear something in yellow as this was Earnest’s favorite color.
