Edith "Edie" Weissleder Heath

Our beloved mother, Edith “Edie” Weissleder Heath, 68 of Vero Beach, Fl. died on February 22, 2023 at 9:22pm at the VNA Hospice House in Vero Beach, FL. She was surrounded by her loving children as she gained her wings and welcomed home to be with her late husband Willie “Vaughn” Heath and son, Robert Lee Heath.  Her parents Buster and Eleanor Weissleder welcomed her into this world on June 2, 1954, in Bergenfield, New Jersey. Edie and Vaughn we were married on July 24, 1971 and had 6 children together.

Edie was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother (GiGi), sister and aunt. She always had a passion for racing as her late husband, Vaughn was a well-respected racecar driver. They spent every weekend for many years with their children, nieces and nephews in tow on the track. She even tested her luck driving her husband’s racecar a time or two. Following his death, she continued to follow her passion as she spent every Sunday watching NASCAR where she followed Davie Allison and then Jeff Gordon. Edie was always proud of the family that she created. In her down time, she enjoyed knitting blankets for all the little ones that were blessed to call her GiGi. Her children were always the highlight of her life and then came her amazing grandchildren. It warmed her heart on the occasions that she could have them all her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren in one place. Just when she thought she had the fullest heart came along her great-grandchildren and she then became GiGi. Edie was always full of life, enjoyed laughing and joking with the ones around her and has always found her strength in her children.

Edie is survived by her Son, John Weissleder (Jamie) of Fort Lauderdale, Fl., Daughter, Michelle Heath-Groothouse (Mark) of Titusville, Fl., Son, Willie Heath of Fort Lauderdale, Fl., Daughter, Kelly Heath (Brianna) of Vero Beach, Fl., Daughter, Brandi Heath (Robert) of Lithia, Fl., her Grandchildren, Stacy, Joe (Brandy), Brandon (Christine), Ashley (Kyle), Kendahl, Cody, Kyle, Kyra (Marco), Robert, Kayla, Chasity, Christain, Eli, Cutter and Great Grandchildren, Daneisha, Jayla, Jayce, Conor, Arianna, Jacynia, Aaron, Kylie, Brantley, Layla, Keira, Myla, Raelyn, Wayne and Weston; as well as sister, Patsy Cressotti of  Pompano Beach, Fl.

She is proceeded in death by her husband, Willie “Vaughn” Heath, her son, Robert Lee Heath, her parents and brothers John and Robert.

The family will hold a celebration of life in the weeks to come.
