Cdr. Edmonds David, USN, Ret., 93, died May 1, 2008 in Ft. Pierce, Florida.Cdr. David was born in Columbia, South Carolina and moved to Ft. Pierce in 1990 coming from Warwick, New York.He graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1939; served on the Omaha large cruiser as Gunnery & Catapult Officer; served as Squadron Commander, SE Anti-Submarine Squadron; Flight Instructor, at Pensacola Naval Air Station; Navigator on the Philippine Sea (Admirals Flag during invasion of Inchon, Korea); B-25 squadron commander, European Theatre; Naval Liason Officer at SHAPE; Second in Command, U.S. Navy NAAFI base in Indiana; helped develop DEW LINE; closed the Brooklyn Navy Yard; Subcontract Administrator for components of the LEM (Lunar Excursion Module) & for the U.S. Navy Tomcat.Survivors include his daughter, Katherine of New York; son, John of Connecticut; daughter, Evelyn of New York; son, James of Ft. Pierce, FL; daughter, Anne of New York; and 4 grandchildren.
