Edward J. Gallagher, Jr. of 407 East Erie Drive, Fort Pierce, Florida passed away Tuesday June 22, 2010 after a long illness.
Ed was born to the late Edward and Susan Dougherty Gallagher on October 30, 1929 in Philadelphia, PA. Ed served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He retired from Atlantic Cement Co. in Ravena, NY after 25 years of faithful service. He was a life member of Catskill Elks 1341 and a 22 year member of the Stephen N. Gladwin Post 40, Fort Pierce, FL.
He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Audrey Dewey Gallagher; his children, Margaret Dewey Bagshaw of Catskill, NY, Patricia Dewey Vorees of Buford, GA, Michael (Colleen) Dewey of Duanesburg, NY and Catherine (Scott) Dewey Dreger of Phoenix, AZ; his grandchildren, Jennifer Bagshaw Dillworth, Heather Bagshaw, Holly Bagshaw Richardson, Chad Vorees, Matthew Vorees, Amara Vorees Smith, Suzanna Dewey Moe, Lauren Dewey, Shannyn Dewey, Reo Dreger and Bobbi Dreger; 12 great-grandchildren; nephew, Donald Thorne; nieces, Lillian Thorne Fischer and Susan Thorne Jansen, and 9 grand-nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents Ed was predeceased by his brother, Bernard Gallagher, sisters, Mary Constable and Theresa Thorne, sons, Bernard and Edward Gallagher, granddaughter, Carla Bagshaw and great-granddaughter, Adyson Claire Smith.
In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the YMCA of Greene County, 370 Mansion St., Suite 2, W Coxsackie, NY 12192 or the National Kidney Foundation.
A Celebration of Ed’s life will take place later this summer in Catskill, NY.
