Edward Robert Manemeit, Sr.
Edward “Ed” Manemeit, Sr., 91, died January 9, 2015 in Fort Pierce, Florida.
Ed was born in New Haven, Connecticut and moved to Port St. Lucie in 1991 coming from Northford, Connecticut.
He retired from Pratt Whitney after 34 years of dedicated service, retired as Captain after 20 years with the Northford Acres Company, volunteer fire department. He was General Curtis LeMay’s flight engineer (hand selected to be his flight engineer), bus driver for the town of North Branford, crossing guard for St. Lucie County, Veteran of the U.S. Air Force, and participated in Honor Flight Saint Lucie County. He was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. He was the life of every party, loved to dance, Big Band, and loved to fish and swim.
Survivors include his daughter, Patricia (Michael) Solakian of Tampa, FL; son, Edward (Nancy) Manemeit, Jr. of East Hampton, CT; companion, Ersilia Stanziale of Port St. Lucie, FL; step-daughters, Debra Melillo of Port St. Lucie, FL, Dawn McAuliffe of Port St. Lucie, FL and Tammy Brenner of Port St. Lucie, FL; Craig McAuliffe and Paul Hugens of Port St. Lucie, FL; grandchildren, Becky Solakian, Allison (Darren) Douglas, Michael Solakian (Nabely), Christopher (Wendy) Manemeit, Jessica Salgado (Luis), Heather Manemeit (Mike McQuillan), Mark Jordan, Brianna McAuliffe, Shane McAuliffe, Alyssa and Caitlyn Anderson; great-grandchildren, Mya Douglas, Juliana Salgado, Michael McQuillan, and Elyse Brownell; and Spike the dog. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley and daughter, Loretta.
