Elaine Schurmann Wharton, a Virginia resident and Ft. Pierce, Florida native, died in Fredericksburg, Virginia August 29, 2016. Elaine was born October 8, 1939 to Karl and Constance Schurmann in Ft. Pierce and graduated from Ft. Pierce High School in 1957.
Elaine married Charles Wharton, II in 1958 and they lived in many interesting places with his career in ministry. They moved to Virginia in 2001.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Leroy and Donald and a son, Robert. She is survived by her husband Charles of Fredericksburg; her sister, Dorene Conrad of Ft. Pierce and sisters-in-law Bessie Schurmann and Mary Ann Schurmann of Ft. Pierce, sister-in-law Patricia (Glenn) Thurston of Colorado Springs, Colorado; son Charlie (Jeane) of Orlando, Florida; daughter, Kim (Russell) Williams of Fredericksburg; granddaughters, Amanda (Aaron) Brown of Warrenton, Virginia, Chelsey (Bobby) Alfors of Fredericksburg; Brook Williams of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and grandson A.J. Wharton of Kansas City, Missouri; two great-granddaughters, Ashanti and Candice Brown; two step-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Elaine’s warm smile, generous spirit and no bake chocolate cookies will be greatly missed. She was a member of the Church of Christ.
Wednesday, September 7, 2016, family will receive visitors from 10:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m. with a memorial service at 11:30 a.m. presided over by her son Charlie at Haisley Funeral Chapel, 3015
Okeechobee Road in Ft. Pierce. Burial will take place at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
