Ellen Hempstead, 78, died March 31, 2008 in Ft. Pierce, Florida.Mrs. Hempstead was born in Punta Gorda, Florida and moved Ft. Pierce 15 years ago coming from Davie, Florida.
She worked for Metro Dade Sheriff’s Office in Miami for 20 years. She was a member of the Community United Methodist Church, Ft. Pierce and was also involved with the church’s Clown Ministry, volunteered with the Meals on Wheels for many years, member of the Indian River Antique Auto Club of America and of the National Association of Winnebago Travelers. She also loved and grew orchids.Survivors include her husband of 43 years, Dale Hempstead of Ft. Pierce, FL; daughters & sons-in-law, Sandra & Gary Rowe of Breckenridge, CO and Gloria & Roy Tharp of Columbia, TN; grand-daughter, Ellen (Brian) Brown of Breckenridge, CO; great-grand-daughter, Sophia Brown of Breckenridge, CO; sister, Irma Daniels of Port Charlotte, FL. She was preceded in death by 9 siblings.Memorial contributions may be made to the Susan G. Komen Foundation, 5005 LBJ Fwy, Suite 250, Dallas, TX 75244.Services: Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 2, 2008 from 5-8 PM at Haisley Funeral Home. A service will be held on Thursday, April 3, 2008 at 10:00 AM in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
