Eloise Bishop, born July 24, 1922, died at her home in Fort Pierce, Florida on June 20th after a short illness. Eloise was a lifelong resident of Clinton, OH, and a graduate of the Ohio State University. She taught home economics at the Doylestown, OH High School for 33 ½ years, retiring in 1980. In 1985 she moved to her home in Fort Pierce, FL.Eloise was preceded in death by her parents Omar and Ruth Bishop, and sister, Janet Thesing. She is survived by a family of many friends and helper and friend, Mrs. Leola Richardson.She was an active member of her church, the Indian River Presbyterian Church, which she dearly loved. She held many leadership positions. She was the Moderator of the Presbyterian Women from December of 1992 to June of 1995 and during her term as Moderator she founded the Deborah Circle. She also served as Chairman of the Bereavement Committee in the early 1990’s and was given an Honorary Life Membership to the Presbyterian Women in recognition of her years of service.
Eloise will be remembered for her love and knowledge of cooking and gracious entertaining. She was an educator to the end of her life and taught her friends to enjoy and appreciate each other. She had friends near and far and worked at keeping in touch and making each one feel special. Eloise truly had the gift of unselfish interest in others. Her friends have many fond memories of special times with Eloise and feel privileged to have counted Eloise as their friend. Her passing is a sad loss for all of us.Eloise often said, “Flowers are for the living.” With that thought in mind and knowing how she valued education, in lieu of flowers please make donations to the Eloise Bishop memorial fund at the Indian River Presbyterian Church in Fort Pierce.
