Elsie Martha Walch Kastner

Elsie Martha Walch Kastner went home to be with the Lord at the age of 101.

She was born December 29, 1922 in Manhattan, New York to Emma and Frederick Walch and was the dedicated sister to her beloved brother, Richard Walch, wife to Kenneth and mother to three daughters, Carol, Nancy and Wendy.

Her early childhood was spent playing in Central Park and was defined by the challenges of the great depression.

She married the love of her life Kenneth Kastner on April 5th, 1942, and they spent their early married life in College Point, New York.

While Ken was away serving his country during WWII, Elsie supported the war effort by becoming a riveter at Brewster Aeronautical.

Elsie raised her family on Long Island, New York. She was a Sunday School teacher at Calvary Lutheran Church and a Girl Scout leader for many years in East Meadow.

They later moved to Fort Pierce, Florida where she became one of the original Council on Aging Meals on Wheels volunteers.

Elsie was known for her kind heart and love for God and her family. She was a Prayer Warrior. She maintained her friendships over distance and decades.

Elsie’s heart was devoted to her church of many years- Palm Vista Church of God, now Spirit Life. She touched many lives through her ministry at the St. Lucie County Jail and at the Juvenile Detention Center where she distributed hundreds of personally engraved Bibles.

This beloved centenarian departs this world knowing it was a life well done.

She was pre-deceased by her husband, Kenneth Kastner, brother, Richard Walch and son-in-law, Bill Smith.

She is survived by her daughters, Carol Suida of Sarasota, Nancy Kastner (Mike Abraham) and Wendy Kastner both of Fort Pierce, FL; grandchildren, Renee Fedornak, Jessica Fedornak, Taylor Abraham, Tina Smith Anderson, and Rachel Smith; 5 great-grandchildren, Devin Christy, Madison Moon, Zachary Bohack, Hunter Bohack, and Xander Bohack; 1 great-great-grandchild, Avery Bautista.
