Elvon E. Libersky

Elvon Libersky, passed from this life on March 25, 2008 at Tiffany Hall Nursing Center in Port St. Lucie, FL. He was 69 years old. Mr. Libersky was born in Osage, IA on May 5, 1938. In his youth, he attended school here in St. Lucie County during the winter months. His family moved to Fort Pierce permanently in the 1960’s. He served in the US National Guard as a mechanic. He and his father owned and operated “Libersky Airmarine Service” at the old St. Lucie County Airport and were well known for their engineering and mechanical abilities.
Mr. Libersky was a lifelong card carrying member of the National Rifle Assoc. and an avid collector, reloader, and marksman. He also enjoyed building models of vintage WWI and WWII aircraft, tri-masted sailing ships, galleons, and schooners, hand-crafted miniature doll houses, and H-O and N-gauge miniature trains and villages. He was a noted authority on the Civil War and WWII; with an extensive private library.Mr. Libersky was a charter member of “The Gathering of the Body of Christ Church” in Lakewood Park, where he was ordained and served as the Senior Elder of the Church until his passing. Having attended Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, IL, he was a gifted teacher and theologian.Mr. Libersky was preceded in death by his mother, Rachel Libersky. He is survived by his father, Howard Libersky of Okeechobee; a sister, Sharon Mosher of Fort Pierce; a son and daughter-in-law, Curtis and Linda Libersky of Port St. Lucie; special friends, Janet Chesney of Stockton, KS; Ora Libersky of Earlville, IL; three great-grandchildren, and many friends and family who will miss him dearly.Funeral services are provided by Haisley Funeral & Cremation Service. A memorial service will be held at the old Indrio Road School House, located at the corner of Indrio Road and Emerson Avenue in Lakewood Park, on Thursday, April 3, 2008 at 1:00 PM, with Pastor D. L. Bullington, officiating. Internment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens located at 6026 North US 1, in Fort Pierce, FL at 2:30 PM.
