Ernest Eldridge Settle, 81, died August 23, 2006 in Ft. Pierce, Florida.Mr. Settle was born in Greensboro, North Carolina and moved to Ft. Pierce in 1965 coming from Jacksonville, Florida.He had various leadership roles in the church including, Bishop, Patriarch, and Temple Sealer of the Atlanta, Georgia Temple. Ernest and his wife, Maxine, were the First Ordinance Workers set apart at the Atlanta Georgia Temple. He was the President and CEO of Rent Wear, Inc. for 20 years, Veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in WWII, 32nd Degree Mason, Past President of the Fort Pierce Utilities Board of Directors, Past President of Fort Pierce Rotary Club, member of the Pelican Yacht Club, and the First President of the G.O. Team for St. Lucie County Chamber of Commerce.He was a loving and beloved husband, father and grandfather.Survivors include his son, Thomas W. Settle and wife, Connie of Acworth, GA; daughters, Karen E. Settle, Melody Strunk and husband, Bruce all of Ft. Pierce, FL; son, Paul D. Settle and wife, Mary of Ft. Pierce, FL; 18 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; and brother, Eugene F. Settle of Winston-Salem, NC.
