Ernest A Farris, 85, of Port St. Lucie, Florida, husband of Inge Braun Farris, died Wednesday, July 29th, 2015 at 9:36 AM surrounded by his loving family at St Lucie Medical Center.
He was born in Staten Island, New York, son of the late John Farris and Emma Margaret Cowen Farris, and lived in Staten Island for 67 years. He moved to Port St. Lucie with his wife, Inge, in 1996.
He was an avid golfer and loved to play Bridge. He had a kind heart and was full of humorous stories. Prior to retirement, Ernie was a Licensed Public Accountant, Real Estate and Insurance Broker, Partner in the Firm Brooks, Farris, Bowe. He was an assistant to the Borough President(Robert T. Connor). Ernie was President of North Shore Rotary; Vice President, Richmond County Cultural League; Director, Richmond County Association of Insurance Agents; Director, Operation Breathe Free; Member, S.I. Chamber of Commerce; Member, S.I. Real Estate Board; Member, S.I. Aquehonga Lodge, F & AM. Ernie served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He was predeceased by his only sibling Thomas Hamilton Farris; godfather, Ernest A. Farris; uncle, William Farris; aunt, Jane Farris Casey. He is survived by his wife, Inge; cousins Beverly Farris Keane, Joan Farris Walsh, Joe Farris, Kathie Farris Tong and Virginia Farris Nappi; their children and grandchildren.
Ernie was a member of St. Bernadette's Catholic Church in St Lucie West, FL. Funeral arrangements under the direction of Haisley Funeral Home and Cremation Services Tribute Center Port St. Lucie, FL. An inurnment will be at Moravian Cemetery in Staten Island, NY.
