Ernest W. “Old Vet” Girroir, 78, died July 1, 2009 in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.
Mr. Girroir was born in Haverhill, Massachusetts and moved to Ft. Pierce in 1987.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and received several medals of honor. He retired as a boat captain, having traveled to Bimini.
Survivors include his wife, Karla Girroir of Port St. Lucie, FL; daughters, Annabell Girroir, Helen Girroir both of Port St. Lucie, FL and Eileen Girroir Peard of Maine, and Beth Girroir of Massachusetts; sons, Kim Girroir of Arizona and Danny Girroir of Belford, MA; brothers, Edwin Girroir of Massachusetts, Earl Girroir of Massachusetts and Arnold Girroir of Massachusetts; sister, Annabell Girroir Briggs of Connecticut; 3 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
Services: Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 8, 2009 from 3-4 PM with a service to follow at 4:00 PM at Haisley Funeral Home. An inurnment will take place at a later date at South Florida VA National Cemetery.
