Estill Conley Picklesimer

September 30, 1912 — April 30, 2011

Estill Picklesimer was born to parents, Homer D. Picklesimer and Ethel Conley Picklesimer in Johnson County Kentucky. Estill died on April 30, 2011 at the age of 98. He is predeceased by his wife, Bessie Grim Picklesimer from Nippa, Kentucky. For over seventy years their love and devotion to each other inspired everyone who knew them. Estill is also predeceased by an infant son, James Dalton Picklesimer.

Estill was the son of the Picklesimer family who were farmers and owned a sawmill at Volga, Kentucky. He is predeceased by five of his siblings: Juanita, Walter, Hansel, Francis, and Hubert. Four siblings, Annie Laurie, Betty, Everette Willis and Homer are now living in Kentucky and other states.
Estill served his country with honor in the Pacific Theater during World War II. Although being overseas was a hardship for a country boy, he learned a useful trade in electronic communications. On returning to the United States, he moved to Ohio where he took further training and worked in a new technology for that era, color television. During the sixties, the Picklesimers migrated to Fort Pierce, Florida. Estill and his wife were the founding members of the Church of Christ on Hartman Road. He was employed by Forget’s TV where he walked to work until he retired in his eighties.

Estill loved communing with his large, loving family and often attended his family reunions in Kentucky. He was a handsome man as a teenager and grew into a dignified elder. Personal habits such as daily reading his bible and giving his time freely to those in need made him a remarkable man. His nature was gregarious and he would strike up a conversation in whatever situation he found himself.

Services: A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at 10:00 AM at White City Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Haisley Funeral & Cremation Service.
