Vero Beach

Eugene ‘Gene’ Duncan, 73, of Vero Beach, FL, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 3, 2024.

Gene was born on September 7, 1950 to John and Florence (Duffy) Duncan and was raised alongside his sister, Carolyn, and his brother, Jimmy, in Fort Pierce, FL. He was a student at Fairlawn Elementary School, St. Lucie County Junior High School, and Dan McCarty High School, where he was blessed to meet his wife, Leslie, and to make many lifelong friends.

Gene went on to attend Indian River Community College and launched into his career in the citrus industry. Working for Economy Packing Company and Indian River Exchange Packers, his career spanned over four decades and offered him memorable experiences and lasting relationships.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 50 years, Leslie (Patterson) Duncan; his children, Sarah Leary (Brent) and John Duncan (Courtney Moon); his grandchildren, Aidan, Kellen, Carter, and Jackson; his sister, Carolyn Smith (Frank), and his brother, Jimmy Duncan (Denise); and numerous nieces and nephews.
