Eugene M. Henry, 91, passed away on March 12, 2010 in Port St. Lucie, FL.

Eugene was born to Hershel and Edith Henry on August 23, 1918 in Winamac, IN. He served in the Navy in World War II and then served in the Internal Revenue Service for 33 years. Eugene was an Elder in the Presbyterian Church for over 60 years, and he was a member of the Indian River Presbyterian Church for 31 years. He proudly sang in the Indian River Presbyterian Church Choir for 29 years. Upon his retirement from the IRS in 1975, Eugene worked with the A.A.R.P. tax aide program for 27 years and was an active member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.

Eugene married Hazel Lucille Henry on August 6, 1938, and they celebrated their 71st anniversary in 2009. Eugene was a dedicated Boy Scout leader for Troop Six in Peru, IN, and he and his two sons Larry and Myron received their Eagle Scout awards at the same Court of Honor in 1955.

Eugene was preceded in death by his parents and his five brothers Stanley, Byron, Wendell, Corwin and Lorwin, all of whom also served in the Armed Forces in World War II. Eugene was also preceded in death by his son Larry and his great grandson Nicholas Henry.

Eugene is survived by his wife Hazel; his son Myron (Mary); grand children Karen Henry Kraft (Robert), Carrie Lynn Henry (Terry), Anita Kay Henry and Kevin Henry; and great grandchildren Michael Henry, Vanessa Kraft, Matthew Henry and Abby Lynn Veit.

A visitation will be held at Haisley Funeral Home in Ft. Pierce, FL on Monday, March 15th from 5-8 PM. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, March 16th at 11:00 AM at the Indian River Presbyterian Church in Ft. Pierce. Eugene will be buried in his boyhood home of Winamac, IN. Arrangements are under the direction of Haisley Funeral Home.
