Eugene A. Pomeroy, known affectionately as "Gene," was born on March 30, 1938, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He passed away peacefully on December 2, 2024, in Ft. Pierce, Florida, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and family love that will be cherished by all who knew him.
Gene's educational pursuits included high school and two years of college. Gene enjoyed a long and fulfilling career as a retail manager for Sears and Roebuck, spanning an impressive 35 years. His work ethic and commitment to excellence earned him the respect and admiration of colleagues and customers alike. Gene's professional journey was marked by a passion for service that he brought to every interaction and challenge he faced. In addition to his professional achievements, Gene proudly served his country in the Marine Corps for two years. This period of his life not only shaped his character but also instilled in him a deep sense of respect for discipline and commitment. Gene was a devoted member of St. Lucie Catholic Church.
A beloved family man, Gene is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Mary Pomeroy of Port St. Lucie, FL, along with his son, Michael Pomeroy of Jacksonville, FL, and daughter, Kimberly Whitworth, of Dunmore, WV. He also leaves behind stepdaughters Cheryl Cammarano of Cooper City, FL, Lisa Whitworth of Davie, FL, and Cindy Cammarano of Plantation, FL. Gene's family was paramount to him, and he took great joy in supporting and celebrating their endeavors, often bringing laughter and warmth to family gatherings.
Gene was a passionate supporter and fan of the University of Miami, where he followed the teams with enthusiasm and pride.
The memorial service for Eugene A. Pomeroy is scheduled to be held at St. Lucie Catholic Church, located at 290 NW Prima Vista Blvd, Port St. Lucie, Florida, 34983, on January 4, 2025 to begin at 9:30AM followed by a procession to Rolling Oaks Cemetery and a luncheon at Tutto Fresco's.
