Evelyn M. Smithie, 82, died October 13, 2011 in Ft. Pierce, Florida.
Mrs. Smithie was born in the Bronx, New York and moved to Ft. Pierce in 1989 coming from Mahopac, New York.
Prior to retirement, she was a payroll administrator for Mahopac Central School District for 25 years. She enjoyed knitting, needle work, bingo, and dancing. She was a member of St. Mark’s Catholic Church.
Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Pete Smithie of Ft. Pierce, FL; daughter, Linda (Bill) Whalen of Newburgh, NY; son, Steven (Suzanne) Smithie of New York, NY; sister, SR. Ann Eigenbauer of Bardonia, NY; 4 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Peter Smithie.
Services: Visitation will be held on Monday, October 17, 2011 from 4-6 PM with a Wake Service at 5:00 PM at Haisley Funeral Home. A graveside service will take place on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at 10:45 AM at South Florida National Cemetery, Lake Worth, FL.
