Fern J. Moore, 88, died in Jesus Friday, February 5, 2010 at St. Lucie Medical Center. She was born in Plattsburg, NY, daughter of Clarence B. and Mabel (Thurber) Jones.

She was predeceased by her brothers Alan, Wayne, and Dale Thurber and her sisters Dottie Case and Marjorie McGann.

She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Gordon W. Moore; her son, Donald G. Moore and wife Gabriele of Feeding Hills, MA and her daughter, Marilyn M. Field of Port St. Lucie, FL. She leaves 6 grandchildren: Christine Moore, Carolyn Gifford and husband Randall, Cathleen Currie and husband Jeffery, and Gordon G. Moore and wife Karissa Barbara Field, Daniel Field, and 8 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters Barbara Strassberger and Virginia Paveloi, and her brother Kenneth J. Jones.

She was a January 1939 graduate of Commerce High in Springfield, MA. She married in June of 1939, and soon moved to Feeding Hills. She was a homemaker, insurance clerk, and teletype operator until retiring in 1967. She then wintered in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. and Port St. Lucie. She moved to Indian River Estates, Ft. Pierce, in 1989. She enjoyed her family, travel, Scrabble, and people.

She was a life-long member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Contributions may be made to the Adventist Development and Relief Agency for Haiti Earthquake Response Fund. 12501 Old Columbus Pike Silver Spring, MD 20904 ( www.ADRA.org )

A committal service will be at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam (MA) April 30, at 10:00 am. followed by a memorial service at 11:30 at the First Springfield Seventh-day Adventist Church 1118 Sumner Ave. Springfield MA.
