Francis C. McLocklin was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts, January 16, 1925, passed away July 8, 2004 at his home in Fort Pierce, FL with his wife and children by his side.He leaves his wife of 58 years, Irene, six children, Frank Jr., Ann, Thomas, Barbara Jean, James and Catherine and seven grandchildren, Kelly, Kimberly, Jenni, Wesley, Amanda, Nicholas and Katie. Also he leaves a brother, Richard, and two sisters, Dorothy and Grace.Frank retired from active Navy service in 1969 after serving for 27 years. Starting as a Seaman Recruit he attained the rank of Lieutenant Commander. His Naval career included distinguished service in the Pacific Theater aboard the aircraft carrier, Ticonderoga, receiving the Air Medal and several commendations for actions during WWII. He also served his country during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Additionally he proudly served in the Hurricane Hunters Squadron.Frank worked for several years with Bell South in Fort Pierce. He also served as the Dean of Jones College in Fort Pierce, a position he cherished.Frank graduated from Blessed Sacrament Elementary in Cambridge, MA in 1938. He graduated from Cambridge High and Latin in 1942. He earned his Bachelors Degree at the University of Rhode Island in 1969 and a Master’s Degree at the University of Florida in 1971. The family relocated to Fort Pierce in 1973.Frank also served his community as a member of the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance team, VITA. Serving Health Insurance Needs of Elders, SHINE, was also one of his volunteer efforts.Frank earned respect and admiration in each activity he took on. He will be remembered as a skilled educator and mentor. He will be missed by all who knew him.The family is requesting donations in the memory of Francis C. McLocklin be sent to Hospice of the Treasure Coast, 805 Virginia Ave., Ste. 1, Fort Pierce, FL 34982.A reception will be held on Wednesday, July 14, 2004 from 11-1 PM at Haisley-Hobbs Funeral Home. Arrangements are under the direction of Haisley-Hobbs Funeral Home.
