Francis L. Dancy, Sr., 86, died September 4, 2011 in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Mr. Dancy was born in Jacksonville, Florida, raised in Wabasso, Florida and moved to Ft. Pierce in 1950.
He was a member of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church and Lay Reader for many years. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy, was very active in the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, Master Mason for 65 years, Member of the Sebastian Lodge #232, 330 Scottish Rite, and also active in local, state, and national Masonic organizations.
Survivors include his wife of 21 years, Betty Dancy of Ft. Pierce, FL; daughters, Virginia & Roman Gomez, Jr. of Port St. Lucie, FL, Glenda & Shorty Stewart of Paxton, FL and Anita & Jimmy Cox of Vero Beach, FL; sons, Ben & Shelby Dancy of Fellsmere, FL, Charlie Townsend of Boone, NC and Michael & Tina Townsend of Paxton, FL; 7 grandsons, John, Frank III, Steven, Christopher, Benjamin, Garrett, and Tyler; 3 grand-daughters, Ashley, Kaitlyn, and Kristie; and 6 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his 1st wife, Clara Dancy, son, Francis L. Dancy, Jr., brother, Edward C. Dancy, Jr., grandsons, Paul Kitzi and Joseph Craig.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
Services: Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 8, 2011 from 5-7 PM with a Masonic Service at 6:00 PM at Haisley Funeral Home. A service will be held on Friday, September 9, 2011 at 10:00 AM at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 210 South Indian River Drive, Fort Pierce, FL 34950. Burial will follow at White City Cemetery.
