Frank H. Mundy, born July 18, 1926 in Union County, TN, went home to be with the Lord on December 28, 2016. Frank grew up in Speedwell, TN enlisting in the U.S. Army in November, 1945. He was stationed at Ft. Oglethorpe, GA with the 325th Infantry Regiment of the 82nd Airborne Division serving during World War II in Germany and France. After having served 3 years he was honorably discharged at Ft. Benning, GA in November, 1948. During Frank’s military service, he was awarded a World War II Victory Medal (WD Cir 326) in 1945, and an Army of Occupation Medal (WD Cir 120) in 1946.
Frank married Fannie R. Johnston on February 20, 1945, and they were married 52 1/2 years until her death on August 11, 1997. Frank was also preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Gertrude Stiner Mundy, a son, Frank H. Mundy, Jr., two brothers, Clifford R. Mundy and Ernest E. Mundy, one sister, Pauline Zietz, and a son-in-law, Gary L. Proper. Frank is survived by his spouse, Donna Mundy; 3 children, Charles L. Mundy (Sheila), Brenda A. Proper, Wanda J. Anderson, and daughter-in-law, Rhonda Mundy; 13 grandchildren, Justin A. Mundy (Tracy), Tiffany E. Skiles (Christopher), Joshua D. Mundy (Carissa), Jonathan E. Mundy (Shannon), Kristi A. Kokoski (Christopher), Jeremy L. Proper (Stacey), Garrett L. Proper (Cassandra), Shannon M. MacDonell (Michael), Tonya L. Sylvester (Jonathon), Michael D. Anderson (Sunshine), James Mundy Warrington (Deanna), Dana R. Anderson, and Kyle F. Mundy (Ashley); 24 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great children; 3 sisters, Joan Gramlich, Clara Fisher (Milt) and Vickie Paolino (Tony); and many nieces and nephews.
Frank moved his family to Michigan in the early fifties, eventually settling in Southgate, MI in 1955. He was employed at Composite Forging in Detroit, MI for nearly his entire adult life, working in numerous capacities, including Local Union President and Maintenance Superintendent, until his retirement in 1988. Frank and Fannie moved to Ft. Pierce, FL that year, and several years later relocated to Port St. Lucie, FL where he was residing at the time of his death. During all this time he faithfully served the Lord in numerous capacities at Gilead Baptist Church and Bethesda Baptist Church in Michigan, and Liberty Baptist Church in Ft. Pierce, FL. One of his continual fervent prayers was that every member of his family personally know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour so all the family would one day be reunited in Heaven
