Frank Petro
Frank Petro, 88, died June 2, 2009 in Fort Pierce, Florida.
Mr. Petro was a native of Chicago, Illinois and resided there until moving to Ft. Pierce in 1988 from Warminster, Pennsylvania.
He retired from the Naval Service in 1961 the rank of Chief Petty Officer and served as a member of the VPB #34 Black Cat Squadron during WWII. Frank was a hurricane chaser, worked for the Postal Service, Naval Aviation Supply Office Equipment Specialist from 1964-1979, and was a consultant until 1988. He was a member of St. Mark’s Catholic Church, Gator Trace Golf and Country Club and had a hole in one in 1971 in Pennsylvania.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Wyatt-Petro of Ft. Pierce, FL; daughter, Karen Petro of Atlanta, GA; stepchildren, Pamela Hill Shuster of Newburyport, MA, Mary Lee Hill of Langhorne, PA and Kevin Hill of Ft. Pierce, FL; sisters, Irene Weinert of St. Pete Beach, FL, Lillian Petro-Bazzo of Covina, CA and Margaret Sallay of Lynwood, IL; and brother, Robert Petro of Chatsworth, IL.
Services: A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Mark’s Catholic Church on Wednesday, June 3, 2009 with full military honors. Arrangements are under the direction of Haisley Funeral & Cremation Service. A guest book may be signed at
