Fred Clark McDowell has died at the age of 94, in Hutchinson Island, Florida.
He was born in Mount Dora in 1927 and raised in Crescent City, Florida. He attended Riverside Military Academy in Gainesville, Georgia, and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture from the University of Florida. He worked in the citrus and cattle industries for many years, and raised three children: Fred, Curt and Ben Hill.
His passions were travel, photography and woodworking, and he was a voracious reader who always had a story. Most recently, he lived in Hutchinson Island and held court with friends and neighbors from his woodworking shop and garage.
No services are planned. In lieu of flowers, the family is appreciative of donations to the St. Lucie County Library or a local library or museum.
