Garland Ray Hooker, 97, died May 10, 2019 in Fort Pierce, Florida.
Mr. Hooker was born in Haviland, Ohio on June 18, 1921 and moved to Fort Pierce in 2000.
Garland graduated from Lima South High School and was a linebacker for the football team. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp. serving 2 terms in World War II. His military career took him to the Mediterranean, Spain, France, Morocco, Panama, Nigeria, Cuba and Puerto Rico. Garland retired as a machinist from Marion Power Shovel. He was an excellent golfer and was a caddie for several years.
Survivors include his daughter, Julie Lott of Fort Pierce, FL; brothers, Dave Nokomis of Florida and twin brothers, Donald & Ronald of Lima, OH. He was preceded in death by his father, Earl Smith Hooker, mother, Azaila Lighthill Hooker, 8 brothers, John, James, Dale, William, Roger, Gerald, Franklin, and Charles, 2 sisters, Helen Klink and Betty Metcalf and son-in-law, James F. Lott, Jr.
A memorial service will be held at Memorial Park in Lima, Ohio at a later date.
