Gary Proctor Hamrick was born November 1 1960 to Don and Elizabeth Hamrick in Fort Pierce, FL and died January 24 2020. He graduated from Indian River Academy in 1977. Gary was a United States Navy Veteran and traveled the world in the service until he was honorably discharged in 1984. Gary was passionate about his career with the United States Postal Service and actively serving as president for the American Postal Workers Union.
Gary played many sports throughout his life and shared his love for Baseball with his family, friends and their children. Gary truly loved his family, but his great nieces and nephews held a special place in his heart. Gary supported his family while they played sports and showed livestock at the St. Lucie County Fair. If there was a game to be played, an animal to be shown or a birthday party he was present to show his support. At parties the kids always looked forward to the present “Uncle Gary” brought because he always made it a challenge for them to open. Gary insisted he did not have a photographic memory but he could read a book in just a few hours and tell you exactly what page a certain portion of the book was on, he was able to do a crossword puzzle by memory after just briefly looking at the puzzle.
Gary survived 33 years of marriage to his wife Marjorie Hamrick of Fort Pierce. He is also survived by his daughter, Kimberly Hamrick of Fort Pierce, his mother Elizabeth Hamrick, sister Laura Hamrick, brother Donalan (Carrie) Hamrick, nephews Danny (Sarah) Isenhour, Dalton (Kim) Hamrick, nieces Alana Isenhour, Katie (Chris) Rabon, LeAnne (Todd) Harriman, 10 great nieces and nephews, and many cousins and friends who were like family. He is preceded in death by his father, Don Hamrick.
A potluck style Celebration of Life will be held February 23, 2020 from 3:00 pm – 7:00 pm at the St Lucie County Fire Department Union Hall located at 11201 W Midway Rd Fort Pierce Fl 34945.
