Gary Wynn Norton
Gary Wynn Norton, 81, died February 4, 2024 in Fort Pierce, Florida.
Mr. Norton was born in Pasadena, California and resided in Fort Pierce, Florida.
He graduated from USC with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He served in the U.S. Air Force and worked as a tower crane operator all over the U.S.
Gary lived life to the fullest. His first passions were sailing, along with motorcycle riding, and offshore fishing. He learned to sail at the age of 9 and participated in many sailboat racing events in his early years. He cruised extensively for many years throughout the Bahamas and Caribbean. His love of boating encompassed offshore fishing as well. There are many big fish stories to tell.
Gary enjoyed motorcycling and was a member of the Iron Butt Association, where he completed a Saddlesore 1000, Bunburner 1500, and a 100 CC.
His competitive nature was well noted in any hobby he decided to take up. Just ask anyone who played Texas Hold’em with him. Gary was a member of I.D.P.A. and competed in many events for his age group. He would encourage anyone he knew to live each day to the fullest.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Major Norton of Fort Pierce, FL.
Memorial contributions may be made to Treasure Coast Youth Sailing Foundation, Inc.
A burial at sea will be conducted at a later date.
