George Howard Emerson
George Howard Emerson, 89, passed away on October 14, 2022 in Fort Pierce, Florida.
Mr. Emerson was born in Jersey City, New Jersey and moved to Stuart, Florida in 1968 and then settled in Fort Pierce, Florida.
George was a Veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps from 1953-1955. Prior to retirement, he worked for the Florida Highway Patrol from 1957-1990 then went to work for St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Department from 1990-2015. George was also a Firearms Instructor with Indian River State College Public Safety Academy. He was a member of St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church, Fort Pierce. He enjoyed fishing, boating, scuba diving, and camping. He was a Master Marksman, Master Tinkerer, and a Jack of all trades (cabinet maker, plumber, electrician, mechanic, and welder). His greatest accomplishments were being a husband, father, grandfather, and “Santa”.
Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Lorraine; daughter, Lori Emerson-Mahlschnee (Steve) of Fort Pierce, FL; son, George H. (Peggy) Emerson III; daughter, Sherri Emerson-DeLeon (Thomas) of Texas; son, David (Gina) Kerrigan of Fort Pierce, FL; daughter, Regina (Gregg) Roper of Florida; 14 grandchildren, Christopher, Danielle, Stephen, Clark, Ollie, Joshua, Jordan, Alexandria, Ashleigh, Andrew, Deven, Harley, Brooke and Logan; 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother, Catherine McElroy and his great-grandson, Cooper Finley.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church or to Treasure Coast Hospice.
Services: Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 19, 2022 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Haisley Funeral Home, Fort Pierce. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, October 20, 2022 at 9:30 AM at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church, 1924 Zephyr Ave, Fort Pierce, FL 34982. Burial will take place at St. Monica Cemetery, Palatka, Florida
