George Edward Guettler

George Edward Guettler January 20, 1928 – June 9, 2024

Mr. George Edward Guettler of Fort Pierce, Florida, 96, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, June 9, 2024.

Mr. Guettler was born in Fort Pierce on January 20, 1928. The third child of George Frank and Christine (Knecht) Guettler, he graduated from Saint Anastasia School and Indian River Community College. He served in the U.S. Army in Korea from 1950-1952. On October 13, 1962 he married Jean D. Baroco, and they raised four daughters. For many years he was a successful citrus grower in Saint Lucie County. He was a long-time member of the Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by his four daughters, Michelle Castellan and her husband, Bill, of Front Royal, VA; Margaret Summers and her husband, Todd, of O’Fallon, MO; Amy Zuberbueler and her husband, Patrick, of Comstock, TX; Jennie Zuberbueler and her husband, Bill, of Comstock, TX; fourteen grandchildren: Michael, Clare, Theresa, Joseph and Jeanmarie Castellan; George (Margaret Mary) Summers, Matthew (Katie) Summers, Henry (Katie) Summers, Brendan, and Paul Summers; Margaret, William, John and Helen Zuberbueler; and great-grandson, Anthony Summers. He is also survived by his sisters, Mary Elizabeth Noelke, Cecelia Pruitt, JoAnn Doychak, his brother, Joseph Guettler, and his sister-in-law Patricia Guettler; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Christine (Knecht) Guettler; his wife, Jean D. Baroco; his brother, Norbert Guettler; and sisters, Mercedes Riordan and Christine Marie Guettler.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to A Caring Center for Women, 1986 31^st Avenue, Suite 100, Vero Beach, FL 32960.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, June 18, 2024 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Haisley Funeral Home in Fort Pierce with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6 p.m. A funeral Mass will be offered on Wednesday, June 19, 2024 at 11 a.m. at St. John of the Cross Catholic Church in Vero Beach with burial following at Riverview Memorial Park in Fort Pierce. Arrangements are under the direction of Haisley Funeral & Cremation Service.
