George A. “Mac” MacArthur, 87, died June 23, 2012 in Port St. Lucie, Florida.
Dr. MacArthur was born in Waltham, Massachusetts and moved to Port St. Lucie in 1974 from Wakefield, Massachusetts.
He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He received his Bachelors, Masters, and Doctorate degrees from Boston University. Prior to retirement, he was the Superintendent of Schools in Wakefield, Massachusetts.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Margaret MacArthur of Port St. Lucie, FL; daughter, Diane Roza of Bridgewater, MA; son, George D. MacArthur of Ft. Pierce, FL; and 5 grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.
Services: A memorial service will be held at St. Anne’s Episcopal Church in Billerica, Massachusetts at a later date.
