George T. Cressey, Jr., age 82, died on March 24, 2011 in Fort Pierce, FL. He was born in Gloucester, Massachusetts and moved to Fort Pierce in 1988, coming from Gloucester.
He was a commercial fisherman for 47 years. He enjoyed fishing and gardening. He was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots and the Boston Celtics. He worked part time for St. Lucie Battery and Tire Company.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Ruth Ann Cressey of Fort Pierce; son, David Allen (Laura) Cressey of New Market, NH; daughters, Marsha E. Cressey of Essex, MA, Cynthia Ann (Frank) Oliver of Ipswich, MA, Maureen Ruth (Jack) Lombardo of Rockport MA; brothers, Spike (Polly) Cressey of Fort Pierce, Bill (Wanda) Cressy of Appolosa, WV; sister, Jeanette Cressey Gaurdina of Jupiter, FL; 14 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sons, George T. Cressey III and Michael Cressey; granddaughter, Janine Marie Fiers; mother, Elizabeth Catania; sisters, Beryl Cressey Douglas and Sandra Cressey Muise.
