Georgette Olympe Douge was born on June 24,1924 to Edgar Serran and Eugenia Castro-Casavo Serran in Haiti. She departed this life on November 15, 2018 in Port St. Lucie, Florida.
Her love for learning, coupled by her empathy and desire to help others, motivated her to complete nursing school. Soon after becoming a registered nurse, she married the love of her life, Pierre Eli Douge. Their union produced nine children.
Georgette worked as a nurse in various hospitals in Haiti and continued her career in nursing in the United States where she completed a specialized training in psychiatry. Shortly thereafter, following the passing of her husband and mother, her children relocated to the United States.
She was timid, mild mannered, patient, kind, and generous, with a wonderful sense of humor. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She loved music, dancing and watching her favorite soap operas.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Pierre Douge; sons: George and Reginald; daughter: Mireille; siblings: Antonia, Alma, Clemence, Andre and Gerard.
She leaves to cherish her memory sons: Francois Douge (Kathy) and
Eric Douge (Danielle); daughters: Reine-Nicole Reid (Raymond),
Marie-Francoise K. Dhansis (Joseph), Frederique Schutt-Aine (Joseph-Claude), Dominique Harris; daughter in law Dorothy Douge, adopted son Alex Douge (Mireille); special nephew Serge Alexis and niece Marlene and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, extended family and friends.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, December 1, 2018 from 11AM to 1PM with a service to begin at 1PM at Haisley Tribute Center 2041 SW Bayshore Blvd Port St. Lucie, Florida 34984. A reception will follow.
