Georgia Berniece Cordell Beaty

March 14, 1931 — November 18, 2023

Fort Pierce

Georgia Berniece Cordell Beaty, 92, died November 18, 2023, in Fort Pierce, Florida.

Born in Turley, Tennessee, Georgia was a resident of Fort Pierce for more than 70 years. In1952, she married the love of her life, Ima, and began raising a family.

Mrs. Beaty worked as a cafeteria baker for the St. Lucie Public Schools and was well known for her made-from-scratch baked delicacies that included Coca-Cola cake and carrot cake, peanut butter pie, yeast rolls and many others. She was of the Christian faith attending First Baptist Church of Fort Pierce and Fairlawn Baptist Church.

She loved to quilt and cook and loved to have a house full of family and friends on any given day for a full southern dinner at the lunch hour. She was an avid bingo player and loved lotto and scratch-off tickets of any kind. Most importantly, she loved watching game shows like Let’s Make A Deal, The Price is Right and Wheel of Fortune. But nothing stood in the way of her “stories” each afternoon that included The Young & The Restless, The Bold & The Beautiful and westerns like Gunsmoke. She believed that Witch Hazel was the cure to any injury and it’s believed she had stock in safety pins as she used them everywhere.

Survivors include sister Bonnie Cordell Brewster and brother Paul Cordell, son and daughter-in-law Vernon “Allan” and Mary Beaty, son and daughter-in-law Victor and Linda Beaty, son and daughter-in-law Roger and Laura Beaty, and daughter and son-in-law Sheila and Mike Flinn; grandchildren Deborah Marquez, Matthew and Kathy Beaty, Moses and Michelle Beaty, Bryan & Casey Beaty, Douglas and Jessie Beaty, Kathryn and Michael Ivey, Wade Beaty, Travis Flinn and Kelsey Beaty; and great-grandchildren Julian Marquez, Daisy Marquez, Logan Beaty, Katelyn Beaty, Nik Beaty, Megan Drawbaugh, Mia Beaty and Sophia Davis; and one great-great grandson Barrett Beaty.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Ima O. Beaty, parents Luther and Ethel Marie Cordell, brothers Harold Cordell, Robert Cordell, Luther Cordell and Clayton Cordell, and sisters Juanita Cordell, Attress Cordell Bullock, Mary Cordell Charmichael, Pernia Cordell Cardell, and Stella Cordell McNeely; and grandson Mike Padgett.
