Gerald Bruce Gerhard, affectionately known as “Jerry,” passed away peacefully on September 14, 2024. Born on July 6, 1933, in Chicago, Illinois, Jerry was a cherished son, devoted father, loving grandfather, great-grandfather, and steadfast friend.

Jerry was the beloved son of Gilbert Arthur Gerhard and Mary Naomi Lee, and later welcomed the loving presence of his stepfather, Charles E. Fargo. He was a brother to Reverend Robert Donald Gerhard, half-brothers Thomas J. Gerhard, John H. Gerhard, and Gilbert A. Gerhard III, as well as his step-sister, Marty Lou McCann.

Jerry’s early years were profoundly shaped by his time at Allendale School from 1942 to 1945. The lessons he learned there instilled in him a deep sense of respect, a strong work ethic, and the resilience to navigate life’s challenges with grace.

Jerry’s career was a testament to his passion and dedication. Known for his love of cars, he spent much of his life immersed in the automotive world, including owning his own used car dealership, “Jerry’s Cars and Trucks,” in Ft. Pierce. His expertise and enthusiasm for automobiles were matched only by his unwavering commitment to his work.

Among Jerry’s many qualities, his calm demeanor and inner strength were truly remarkable. He had an incredible ability to stay composed, even in the face of adversity. His dance moves and jokes brought constant laughter and joy, becoming a cherished part of family gatherings. His presence was a beacon of light and happiness to all who knew him.

Jerry’s home was always filled with laughter, especially shared with his beloved wife, Lee, with whom he spent 50 wonderful years. He never missed a chance to tell her "I love you!" and was her greatest supporter. Jerry’s profound affection and unwavering encouragement underscored the deep bond they shared, reflecting his commitment to those he loved.

Jerry’s family will carry forward his legacy of kindness, strength, and joy. He will forever be remembered as a source of warmth and laughter by all who knew and loved him.
