Gerald Lawrence Whitman, 71, died January 22, 2010 in Ft. Pierce, Florida.
Mr. Whitman was born in Battle Creek, Michigan and moved to Ft. Pierce 21 years ago.
He was the former Pastor of Fairlawn Baptist Church, member of Midway Road Baptist Church, and former Chief of Police in Battle Creek, Michigan. He also proudly served in the United States Marine Corp.
Survivors include his wife of 7 years, Betty Whitman of Fort Pierce, FL; sons, James Whitman of Saginaw, MI and Harry Whitman of Springfield, IL; stepsons, David Clayton of Port St. Lucie, FL, Barry Clayton of Sweetwater, TN and Daren Clayton of Ft. Pierce, FL; daughter, Kim Whitman-Webb of Nashville, TN; brothers, Leland and Robert Whitman both of Battle Creek, MI; sister, Dolly Lopshire of Battle Creek, MI; 7 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 43 years, Barbara Whitman, brother, Vernon Whitman and sister, Phyllis Pauley.
Services: A memorial service will be held on Sunday, January 24, 2010 at 3:00 PM at Midway Road Baptist Church.
