Glenn Richard Sapp
Glenn Richard Sapp, 54, passed away on July 27, 2014 in Winston Salem, North Carolina.
He was born in Hialeah, Florida, grew up in Pensacola and moved to Fort Pierce when he was 10.
Glenn attended middle school at Dan McCarty Middle School, graduated from Fort Pierce Central High School, Class of ‘77, and then graduated from Indian River State College with his Associate’s Degree. He played Fort Pierce Little League Baseball, played clarinet in the Fort Pierce Central Band, active member of the Local 1377 for 34 years and was in the Honor Guard. He was an adjunct instructor at Indian River State College Fire School for 12 years and served 34 years for St. Lucie County Fire District and retired as a Lieutenant for the Special Operations Team in September 2013.
Upon recently retiring to North Carolina, he became a board member of the Mc Grady Volunteer Fire Department. He and Wanda were living their dream where he was quickly becoming an aspiring wood worker, birdwatcher, enjoying the outdoors (mountain man) and most recently decided to take guitar lessons.
Survivors include his wife of 12 years, Wanda Sapp; son, Ryan Sapp and wife, Felicia Sapp; daughter, Kaylin Sapp; stepson, Shane Green; stepdaughters, Hannah Bruhn and Aolani Summerlin and her husband, PFC James Summerlin; grandson, Jayden Bonazinca and his furry children, Nikki, Tuko, and his most beloved Lilly and Salem. He was preceded in death by his parents, John E. Sapp and Zora T. Sapp.
Memorial donations may be made to the I.R. S.C. Fire School Scholarship Fund, 3209 Virginia Avenue, Fort Pierce, FL 34981.
Services: A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, August 1, 2014 at 10:00 AM at Westside Baptist Church, Fort Pierce. Arrangements are under the direction of Haisley Funeral & Cremation Service. An online guest book may be signed at
