Gloria Hawkins Moore, 82, died November 6, 2011 in Ft. Pierce, Florida.
Mrs. Moore was born in Atlanta, Georgia and moved to Ft. Pierce as a child.
She was an active member of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church for 67 years, graduated from Fort Pierce High School, Class of 48’. She was self employed for 25 years with Moore Appliance Center (formerly Hawkins Supply Co.), then worked with Adams Ranch as bookkeeper, founding board member of Heathcote Botanical Gardens of Ft. Pierce, she was very active in the St. Lucie County Chamber of Commerce for many years, founding member of the Treasure Coast Bonsai Society and was very active in the Ft. Pierce Garden Circle. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Survivors include her daughters & sons-in-law, Miriam & Peter Charles of St. Lucie Village, FL and Joy Moore-Hatch & Ray of Ft. Pierce, FL; daughter-in-law, Candace Moore of Vero Beach, FL; brother & sister-in-law, Donald B. & Polly Moore of St. Lucie Village, FL; sister-in-law, Genny Clayton of St. Augustine, FL; grandchildren, Jennifer & Joe Garrity of Ft. Pierce, FL, Christopher & Kim Hall of Ft. Pierce, FL, Mark Moore, Jr. & Lisa of Micco, FL, and Michael Moore of Nashville, TN; great-grandchildren, Marcus Sigmon, Bradley Garrity, Kyndall Hall, Miriam Hall all of Ft. Pierce, FL and Mark A. Moore, II of Micco, FL. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, H.B. Moore and son, Mark A. Moore.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Heathcote Botanical Gardens, 210 Savannah Road, Fort Pierce, FL 34982 or to St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 210 South Indian River Drive, Fort Pierce, FL 34950.
Services: Visitation will be held on Friday, November 11, 2011 from 5-7 PM at Haisley Funeral Home. A service will be conducted on Saturday, November 12, 2011 at 11:00 AM at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. A reception will follow at Heathcote Botanical Gardens.
