Gordon Kent Mershon, 65, died September 23, 2010 in Port St. Lucie, Florida.
Mr. Mershon was born in Portsmouth, Ohio and moved to Port St. Lucie in 1998 from South Point, Ohio.
He received his Ordination to the ministry from Berean Baptist Church, Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree from Tennessee Temple University in ministry. He was a U.S. Veteran serving during the Vietnam War stationed in Korean. He was an active chaplain at the Okeechobee Correctional Institute. He enjoyed sharing Christ with others, bow hunting, playing golf and was an avid Ohio State football fan.
Survivors include his wife, Dottie Mershon of Port St. Lucie, FL; daughters, Tracey A. Casey of Milford, OH, Kathy Hendricks of Port St. Lucie, FL, Gina Oates of Greensboro, NC, Amy Miller of Shepherdsville, KY, Lori Sitz of Shelbyville, TN, Jennifer Harrison of Louisville, KY, and Karen Hall of Shelbyville, TN; brothers, Erick Mershon of Ft. Pierce, FL and Barry Mershon of Murfreesboro, TN; sister, Meredith Williams of Wheelersburg, OH and 16 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Anna Rosetta Mershon.
Services: Visitation will be held on Monday, September 27, 2010 from 2-4 PM at the Beacon Baptist Church, 11616 Indiantown Road, Jupiter, FL. A service will follow at 4:00 PM at the church. Burial will take place in Memorial Burial Park in Wheelersburg, Ohio.
